Daniel Khachatorian

Polytechnic Institute of NYU
Atoka, OK
Daniel is an experienced mathematics teacher and tutor with over 20 years of experience. He got his first taste of tutoring while in high school–and got hooked. With a degree in mathematics, he’s worked as a math instructor for NYU Tandon School of Engineering and as a remote math teacher/tutor. As such, he’s worked with students of different ages, backgrounds, and needs. This has included high school/college-level topics such as PreCalculus, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Statistics, and more, as well as prepping students for the SAT®, ACT, AP®, and IB exams.
Most important to Daniel’s educational philosophy is his belief in not only arming students with knowledge but also helping them think broadly about question types and patterns, as well as coaching students to explain complicated solutions through relevant but simplified examples. To that end, Daniel finds it important to approach sessions empathically – to put himself in his students’ shoes and treat himself as a peer.
Outside of working in mathematics education, you can find Daniel enjoying world cuisine, listening to podcasts, volunteering, and playing a retro video game or two.
